What is your products return policy? TOP
We accept returns and exchanges (excluding custom dyed items) within 30 days of delivery. Special order and custom cut items are subject to a 15% restocking fee. If you encounter a problem with your order, please contact us within 7 days of receipt. We will issue you a return authorization number and this number must be clearly written on the outside of the package. Returns without an authorization number will not be accepted. We will be happy to exchange the item/s or issue a refund less shipping providing the item/s are in original condition and unused. Items and/or yardage that has been altered in any way - cutting, washing, etc - will not be accepted and no return will be made for such returns.
We are unable to refund the return postage but no further delivery charge will be due if an exchange is requested. Please send all returns by trackable means and properly packed as we can not be held responsible for returns lost or damaged in the mail. We can not accept packages postage due or COD.
Can I get a sample? TOP
We receive several dozen requests per month for samples and unfortunately are no longer able to send them free to everybody due to increased overhead costs, but we have sample sets available for purchase at this link: http://www.silkribbon.com/category_58/Samples.htm. How much is shipping? TOP
Shipping cost varies based on total order amount, method of shipping you chose and destination. You can estimate shipping cost before finalizing your order by placing the items you want in the shopping cart, selecting your country from the drop down list, then selecting the "add shipping" button. You will then be given a list of shipping options with a cost for each in which to choose.
I placed an order with your company, how soon will I receive my order? TOP
Orders usually ships in 1-3 days, depending on product availability. This means that it will take approximately 3-7 days for the product to arrive at your door if you have chosen Priority mail shipping, and 4-10 days if you have chosen Economy/ first class shipping. If you have chosen Priority Mail, your order is set as High Priority and shipped out the next business day.

Do you sell wholesale? TOP
Yes, we have special prices for resellers. If you are a retailer in an industry related business and wish to have a wholesale account with us, please register here and choose a password. We will contact you once we get you entered into the system and your account is live. Processing time takes 2-3 business days.
Please note there is a $50 minimum requirement for wholesale pricing.
Do you ship in countries other than the US? TOP

We accept payment by credit card through our shopping cart and Google Checkout and also accept Paypal. Another option for payment of international orders is Wire Transfer. Silk: Are your products that you call silk really 100% silk? TOP
Yes, rest assured that if we advertise a product as silk, it really is silk. Occasionally we carry products that are silk blends and we always specify that content. We have been importing silk from china for 12 years now and many of the silk products we carry are made by the same companies that make our silk ribbon. Silk has become a loosely used term over the years and products are sometimes referred to as being silk when they actually are polyester or some other fibre. This is not to say that dishonesty is necessarily involved, but in many cases is simply unintentional Ignorance This is especially prevalent on auction sites, so once again ask questions to be sure you are getting what you are paying for.

Yes, you may also print out your shopping cart contents and send your order in this way with payment. Shipping fees MUST be included in the total amount of the check or money order. Our shopping cart will calculate the shipping costs for you after you select your preferred shipping method, and provide you with a grand total. Please call your bank. Most likely your account is blocked for foreign transactions.
Silk: Is your hand dyed silk ribbon washable? TOP
Our hand dyed silk embroidery ribbon is washable, but limited, gentle hand washing with a mild soap is recommended. There will be initial bleeding with dark colors. We recommend that you pre rinse dark colors in vinegar before applying them to light colored clothing or other washables. Washing of silk satin ribbon is not recommended.
Silk: I am thinking about dying my own silk ribbon, is it difficult? TOP
No, it is easy and fun to dye your own silk ribbon! Silk accepts dye more readily and beautifully than any other natural fibre. It is not allot different than dying easter eggs. Helpful items include a microwave or stove to heat the water, small glass bowls to hold they dye (bowls should be reserved for dye use only), vinegar and paper towels and your dyes. Most of these are already in our homes.
Silk: What kind of dyes should I use? TOP
There are lots of great silk dyes on the market at different price ranges, so it is really a matter of personal taste and what type of results you are looking for. My personal favorite is Jacquard Acid dyes. Acid dyes produce the most vibrant colors with silk. Silk: Why is the Japanese silk ribbon so much more expensive than Chinese silk ribbon? TOP
There are several reasons for this. Chinese silk is generally not as good a quality as Japanese silk. Not because of inferiority in silk worms, but rather because of the methods of handling, inconsistency, and because standards have not been insisted upon by the Chinese government. By contrast, Japanese silk production has increased in quality and reputation over the years. The government has carefully promoted the industry, insisting on honesty, consistency and on scientific care in handling the fibre. That is not to say that chinese silk is not a good product, some of the finest silk in the world comes from China, but Japanese silk ribbon is generally a better product. A second reason for the huge difference in price is the comparison of the value of the japanese yen to the US dollar. The third and final is the fact that there is only one major silk mills in Japan that produces the this silk ribbon your are familiar with packaged and sold under the brand names YLI and United Ribbons. One company has exclusive import/export rights to the product in North America, which in turn eliminates the possibility of any other companies importing the ribbon, thus eliminating room for price negotiation. It is also important to note that some sellers, particularly on auction sites sell Chinese ribbon and ribbon products marketed as being Japanese ribbon. If you are purchasing silk ribbon that is marketed as Japanese ribbon, but the price is considerably lower than what you expect, this is a red flag that it probably is not.
